Labyrinth
Our beautiful labyrinth was lovingly designed and built by members of our community, young and old alike, in 2010. It is open every day from dawn to dusk.
The labyrinth is an ancient pattern found in many cultures around the world. Labyrinth designs have been found on pottery, tablets, and tiles dating as far back as 4000 years. Native American, Celtic, Greek, and other cultures have all used various labyrinth designs as part of their spiritual practice.
In recent years there has been a worldwide renewal of interest in this ancient tool for meditation and prayer. Our labyrinth design is similar to the labyrinth of Chartres Cathedral in Paris, France. This labyrinth is open to all people as a non-denominational, cross-denominational, cross-culture gift for all who seek peace. There are many words to describe a labyrinth: a path of prayer, a walking meditation, a crucible of change, a watering hole for the spirit and a mirror of the soul. The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. It has a single circuitous path that winds into the center, and the same path is used to return so the entrance then becomes the exit. The path is in full view, which allows one to be quiet and focus internally.
Please enjoy a contemplative, prayerful walk and get in touch with God and yourself.
