Join Rev. Dr. Janet Parker in reading and discussing Becoming Kin: An Indigenous Call to Unforgetting the Past and Reimagining Our Future, a provocative and inspiring book by Anishinaabe and Ukrainian writer Patty Krawec. Krawec says she was thinking of all the "good Christians I grew up with when I wrote this book." She invites us on a journey to “unforget” the true history of the US and settler-indigenous relations and to reimagine a future that brings all of us — settlers, indigenous, and the “displanted” (African-Americans brought here against their will) — into kinship with one another and the land we share. Krawec invites us to reflect on our own ancestry and relationship to the land. Sessions will begin with scriptural grounding that reflects Advent themes.
This series runs on Tuesday evenings for 4 weeks (November 28, December 5, 12, 19).
